Beginner to runner...

For Mother’s Day 2021 my daughter bought me a Beginner’s Running Course with Cleobury Mortimer Running Club.

I was 67 years old and had never run or participated in any kind of sport since leaving school but during lockdown I had vowed that once we were allowed to go out I would never say no to any opportunity to socialise.

I bought some trainers and went along to the first meeting. Most of the others in the group were about half my age but I felt that I had overcome the hardest hurdle, putting on those trainers and getting out of the door.
It has turned out to be one of the best presents I have ever had.
The running club is so friendly and inclusive, I have never felt left out or left behind. I have gained confidence and made lots of new friends. By the end of the course I could run 5K and was able to complete my first parkrun.

I went on to join the club and now run with them 3 times a week for social runs and help with techniques and I can now run 10K.

If anyone is thinking of joining the beginner’s course Do IT. You won’t regret it. The club is very friendly, non judgemental and supportive of everyone’s physical and emotional needs. It welcomes all ages , if you can walk and move forward the coaches will get you running.

There is also the added bonus , if you choose , for coffee, cake and chats after the social runs .
So sign up for the next course - you won’t regret it .

Pam
